After Paris we headed to Ankara. It was almost surreal to be showing my parents around a place that has been a part of my life for almost 6 years but they'd never seen.
Turkey is a difficult place to explain, in some ways it's similar to any big city but it other ways it's not like anywhere else.
I got to show them all the places I've told them about and let them experience the parts of my life here that are so different from like in America.
Originally I'd thought they'd only be in Ankara about 3 days but then, when I printed my flight itinerary, I realized we had an extra day! I took them to my favorite bookstore that has a whole floor (well, section of a small floor) of English books!
